TPS/MPS/CTPS/FPS/BMPS – information on the Preference Service hosted by the DMA.
Summary
What is the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)?
The TPS helps you to make sure your telephone number is no longer available to organisations who may telephone you with marketing offers and information you do not wish to receive. It is free to register on the TPS.
What is the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS)?
The CTPS is the central opt out facility for corporate subscribers to opt out of receiving unsolicited sales and marketing calls to either the organisation as a whole or to specific numbers within that organisation. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers that have been registered on the CTPS
Bear in mind…..
Registering may well prevent you from receiving information from organisations which you would actually like to have……
What is the Mailing Preference Service (MPS)?
The MPS gives you the right to decide what sort of mail you want to receive. If unwanted Direct Mail is proving a substantial problem for your household then the MPS will register your address so that Direct Mail companies can take your details off their mailing lists.
What is the Fax Preference Service (FPS)?
Primarily aimed at businesses, the FPS gives you the opportunity to register fax numbers on which you do not wish to receive direct marketing faxes.
What is the Baby Mail Preference Service (BMPS)?
Another free service which give parents the opportunity to reduce the amount of baby related mailings they receive. In the sad event that a family experiences the death of a baby this can help avoid unintended distress.
